English 1010 3/16/15 Literature Review 1 Since the turn of the century, technology has been revolutionized and popularized more than anyone could imagine. Generations growing up with this technology have shown impressive intuition and interest when using these devices. Researchers have become concerned with this usage and its connection to the mental capabilities of children. Studies are being performed to better define the nature of these connections, the affect these connections have on kids, and how to properly navigate these influences as an adult. Technology has become more obscure as it continues to grow and serve new purposes. Researches are still attempting to keep up in understanding the various forms of technology and their associations with the different modalities of a child’s life. The two most important modalities that have shown strong connections to technology are a formal education and social development. Each new form of technology that children embrace into their life, ranging from texting to playing games on the iPad, is being monitored closely by adults. Scholars, parents, and researchers are concerned and curious as to what really solidifies the relationship between kids and technology. Many studies call for more research to further understand the gratifications that technology satisfies. Most research that has been conducted results in evidence or articles that either support or oppose the usage of technology by kids.
Many adults are concerned with the consequences that may come from allowing technology to become such a large part of our society.
