301 Assignment 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
It is a highly important professional role being a Hairdressing Teacher, with many responsibilities. I am hopefully looked up to as a role model by my students and strive to keep them motivated, helping to reach their full potential. I like to set good standards encouraging positive learning behaviour by being reliable, organised, very updated in what I am teaching, making sure I do have knowledge in what I am delivering to my students, I therefore need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated, attend meetings ,always keep my knowledge refreshed and updated, always be available in-case I may be needed as a Teacher the hours are never set, I always follow health and safety not just for myself but also making sure my students are not put in danger,their safety is my paramount, strict confidentiality rules are to be followed by myself, keeping my relationships with students and also colleagues positive and collaborative, though if I did feel a student was in danger or told me something that I couldn’t deal with then I would refer it to the correct area making the student aware that it is my duty to report it and try to get them correct support needed. I do sometimes come across students that have barriers to learning it is my duty to identify these barriers and then work creatively to overcome these individual barriers, I value and promote social and cultural diversity, equality of opportunity and inclusion. For example if I had a new group of students in my lesson my attitude is to always be neutral and open minded as to not give favouritism to any particular students giving them all an equal opportunity, treating everyone with respect and dignity. I would educate my students through equality and diversion through open activities to give them an insight of each other, using images of hairstyles from different countries to help bring up open discussion.
