On the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, four U.S. airliners were hijacked by al-Qaeda suicide bombers and crashed into New York City’s World Trade Center north tower at 8:48 a.m. The terrorist on flight 11 were Mohamed Atta, Satam al-Sugami, Waleed m. Alshehri, Wail M. Alshahri, and Abdulaziz Alomari. At 9:03 a.m flight 175 crashed into New York City’s World Trade Center south tower. The high jackers aboard this plan were Marwan Al-Shehhi, Ahmed Alghamdi, Hamza Alghmadi, Mohald Alshehri and, Fayez Rashid. , while a third, flight 77, crashed into the west wing of the Pentagon at 9:39 a.m. in Washington. A fourth plane, which was believed to be heading for the White House, crashed in a field 120 kilometres southeast of Pittsburgh at approximately 10:10. The high-jackers aboard the planes were experienced flyers and a few of them learned to fly at American pilot schools. Not long after the attacks, officials in the United States identified Pakinstan born Khalid Sheik Mohammed as the senior al-Qaeda strageist who produced the plot. On this day 10 years ago 19 terrorist took the lives of 2,974 people and many more that were listed missing. I remember sitting in my third grade class watching these planes crashing into these big buildings. I didn't know what to think or why somebody would do that. Many people were puzzled as to why they attacked us but the reason was based on the fact that the United States aided and supported Arab government, which in fact is al-Qaeda’s enemy.
