In our life we are surrounded by various sounds: sough of trees, rustle of fallen down autumn leafage, hum of bees, peals of thunder, whisper, heavy breathing, trills of nightingale, city noise, voices of people and animals. And of course music! It reaches us from TVs’, iPods’ and radios, classes of musical schools, concert halls, conservatories, passing cars, windows of people houses. Music has been accompanying people for a long time and now it would be difficult to imagine modern human life without it. Music, beginning with classical play ending with pop songs, is necessary to all. I like a lot of songs of different styles but there are few special ones which are more than just nice melody with fine words.
‘Goluboy Vagon’ (Blue Wagon) is nicest and dearest song from my childhood. First time I heard that song during winter holidays in my second year in school. It was a week between New Year and Orthodox Christmas. After snow fighting with my brother and cousins outside, we all came back into grandparents’ house to watch ‘Old Animation’ (cartoons which were created in Soviet Union). I still remember how we were scuffing in front of the sink who will wash hands first. The result of that was totally soaked clothes and thumping bog on the floor. Finally, somehow we managed to get into the lounge. A smell of home baked confectionary, heated milk and aroma of Christmas tree was in the air. That time all mighty LRT (Lithuanian Radio and Television Chanel) decided to entertain us with unseen cartoon about Cheburashka (‘According to the story, Cheburashka is a funny little creature, unknown to science, who lives in the tropical forest’) and his friend alligator Gena. I was emotionally touched by Cheburashka’s story and couldn’t get ‘Blue Wagon’ song out of my mind. Dad was actually forced to buy me a tape with songs from that cartoon in order to stop me asking older households to sing ‘Blue Wagon’ again and again…
