Adolf Hitler was a brilliant political leader, who used his power to manipulate peoples believes on Jews and World War II. He is the man responsible for murdering millions of Jews for no reason at all. Was it Hitlers fault for all of his wrong doings, or was he mentally ill. In this paper we will examine Adolf Hitler and try to determine why he acted the way he did.
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, he was the fourth child of Alois Schickelgruber and Klara Hitler in the Austrian town of Braunau. Adolf didn’t have the best of childhoods, two of his siblings died from diphtheria when they were children, and one died after birth. Alois was described by his housemaid as a "very strict but comfortable" man Adolf's father regularly beat him during his childhood, which may explain for some of his behavior. Alois died 1903 from a apleural hemorrhage. His mother on the other hand adored him and showed him affection whenever possible, but she unfortunately died from breast cancer in 1907. As you can see Hitler didn’t have the best of childhoods and many psychologists believe that these events are what made Hitler into the man he was.
There is a lot of speculation on Hitler’s physical and mental health. Most of these illnesses cannot be proved because we didn’t have the same technology that we do today, but there still is speculation. The most talked about disease that Hitler was diagnosed with was syphilis. It is thought that Hitler contracted this disease from a German prostitute. Hitler Also suffered from borderline personality disorder, which showed its symptoms in countless ways. Some historians believe that Hitler may have been schizophrenic, because many people believed he was hallucinating and delusional during his last year of life. This was thought to be caused by his long term methamphetamine addiction which can also cause paranoia and other signs of schizophrenia.
