Afterlife
Many people often ask themselves this question “does it matter whether there is an afterlife?” I personally feel it does matter if there is an afterlife. If there is an afterlife then it certainly matters how we choose to live our lives right now. I don’t necessarily feel it matters if there is an afterlife to the universe, however, it does matter to us. The main thing that matters if you believe in the afterlife is whether or not you will qualify for this life.
Another question to take into consideration would be “does the question of whether an afterlife exists affect how we live now?” My personal feelings on this question are that if a person believes in after life then it absolutely does make a difference on how we live our lives now. If you believe in the afterlife then you live your life a certain way, by certain rules to ensure that you will essentially qualify for this afterlife. Depending on the religion a person follows would depend on the rules they would live by in order to qualify for the afterlife. For example in the religion of Christianity the vast majority of Christians believe in some kind of heaven, in which believers enjoy the presence of God and other believers and freedom from suffering and sin. People who live their lives believing there is an afterlife generally live their lives by a set of rules. Depending on a person’s religious beliefs would depend on the rules that they choose to live their lives by. Regardless of religious beliefs however, the one common ground that everyone who believes in an afterlife shares trying to live their life’s by a certain standard to ensure they will qualify for their afterlife.
People who do not believe in an afterlife most likely do not try to live their lives by the rules. Those who do not believe in the afterlife do not worry about their actions right now because they do not feel they will have to suffer any consequences for it once death knocks on their door.
