• What is ageism? How does ageism influence the presence of diversity in society?
Ageism is a form of prejudice and discrimination that a lot of seniros have to deal with. This is a discrimination against older people, such as in a work place, as of not being hired because of their age, and being looked as if they cant do the job correctly. Agism influences the presence of diversity in society, is when a alderly person who is a certain age does not get accepted within a certain group of others. Older people are looked at as if they are too old, this is when the person does not get respected or given an equal chance.
• What is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? How does the ADA address issues for the aging population?
American with Disablitites Ace (ADA) is, when people are not allowed to discriminate people with disablitlites such as in governmental activities, any public areas, transportation, and also in any employment environment. Apart of the ADA also has a requirement for telecommunication relay service. How ADA isssues is being addressed for the aging population is that they can now get a job and employeers are not allowed to not hier them because of their age. Now older people have to have the opportunity to be promoted and not be discriminated against due to their age, they now have this opportunity, unlike before people did not want to hire older aged people because they think they want long lasting people and people that can get the job done with out an issue, well that is not the case anymore now with the ADA act.
