In the wave of internet exploration, are on line retailers. Some of these retailers are more powerful than other companies. Those powerful retailers make buying products easier for the human population. Wal-Mart, Google, Internet Explorer and Amazon are some of those companies. With the competition to be the top rated online retailer, the companies are improving how to reach the buyers. Amazon has a core competency of being a leading online retailer. That was a promise it made to its board. The problem is the company is loosing personal business and collecting business from companies instead.
Amazon.com is moving from being a retailer to being a service provider because instead of changing its business strategy to maximize the efficiency of its online retailing it is concentrating on building a global computing platform like Google and Microsoft. Amazon.com use to be a retailer you would just buy movies, music, books, and other products. Now not only can you buy those items companies can also buy business services. Some companies using Amazon.com for business are Webmail.com, Power set, and Effective Frontier (R. Kelly Rainer, 2008). Those company’s use Amazon for business services such as computing, storage, and other services that make its infrastructure available to companies and individuals to help them run the technical and logistical parts of their businesses (R. Kelly Rainer, 2008).
