The Lottery is a story about a small town that focus is on the amount of rain they will receive for the corn crop that year. While the story of two kinds focuses on a relationship complex relationship between daughters and their mothers. Two Kinds was written by Amy Tan and is a section of her book the Joy luck Club. Amy Tan was born to a family of Chinese emigrants in 1952 in California. Shirley author of The Lottery was born in San Francisco in 1919. Both of these women are well known authors whom are recognized for their extraordinary writing styles. The woman have things in common even though born in different cities during different times. Their stories when written are similar in how they read and how they draw readers in.
