Lecturer - Lecturers normally work in further education colleges and universities and the extent of their role normally depends on the size of the organisation. Lecturers tend to give their information through lectures, presentations and open discussion normally with a large group or class of students. Their work can include the planning, preparing and delivering part of a structured course or of the entire course. Lecturers may also complete lesson plans, lesson aims, lesson objectives and how lessons are to be assessed.    

Trainer – Trainers focus on skill building and presenting information over short timeframes. This is normally done to a team or group of people. Professional competency in their own specialised area is normally more important than academic qualifications. Trainers are more vocal in their teaching and normally use practical methods, e.g.- demonstrating techniques.-

Tutors – Tutors tend to work on an individual or group / class basis. This tends to be on a weekly basis secondary to other forms of teaching. In groups it tends to be offering guidance and support, setting targets to be achieved while monitoring and reviewing progress on the course. Individual tutoring tends to assist on a specific subject.

  * Assessor – An Assessor is someone who formally assesses/marks/grades/passes/fails a learners work and would normally be qualified in the subject they assess.

Responsibilities – It is the responsibility of the teacher to recognise the individual/group/classes- skills, knowledge and any weaknesses.
