Piggy- Prior to arrival on island he lived with his auntie because his dad is dead and he doesn’t live with his mother for some reason. His auntie owned a candy store, from where he ate as many candies as he wanted. Piggy also had and still has asthma. In page 13 it says, “My dad’s dead” he said quickly, “and my mum-“He took off his glasses and looked vainly for something with which to clean them. “I used to live with my auntie. She kept a candy store. I used to get so many candies. As many as I liked.”His auntie was always in charge of him the way he talks about her, how his auntie tells him what to do. Such as not to run because of his asthma.
Ralph- Ralph’s father is a commander in the navy who taught him how to swim at the age of five. In page 13 it says, “I could swim when I was five. Daddy taught me. He’s a commander in the Navy. When he gets leave he’ll come and rescue us.” Ralph hold great pride in his father.
Jack- Jack previously the landing on the island was leader of the choir and on the island still was of the choir boys. He was chapter chorister and head boy in the choir. In page 22 it says, “I ought to be chief,” said Jack with a simple arrogance, “because I’m chapter chorister and head boy. I can sing C sharp.” Then on the next page, Ralph talks to Jack about him saying, “Jack’s in charge of the choir.”
