John Francis Bongiovi Jnr is a world renowned rock and roll star. He is better known by his stage name Jon Bon Jovi. He was born on the 2nd March 1962 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to parents, Carol Sharkey and John Francis Bongiovi Snr. They met when they served in the marines, Carol was also a former playboy bunny and John worked as a hairdresser and interetsingly enough, he was famous for the poodle perm from the 'Slippery When Wet' album era. He has two brothers, Antony, known as Tony, and Matthew, known as Matt. Matt also helps run Jon's fan club.
Jon attended Sayreville War Memorial High School, where he met his future wife Dorothea Hurley. He also met his future band member David Rashbaum. He started performing at schools and in the bars and clubs of New Jersey. He worked in his cousins Tony's Powerstation Studio in New York, where he was a helper, and mostly carried out janatorial work. However this allowed him to gain an insight into the working of a music studio. Jon started out in music by appearing in a number of bands, before eventually forming Bon Jovi.
He recorded his first single 'Runaway,' with Atlantic City Express Way. They released their self titled debut album BonJovi in 1984. They followed that album quickly with their second studio album, '7800 degrees farenheit.' Jon's third album 'Slippery When Wet' was recorded in Canada and has been their most commercially successful album to date, giving us the singles 'Living on a Prayer' and 'You give love a bad name.' 'Living on a Prayer' was their biggest hit and best selling single in 1986. They went out on a 250 date world tour. During this time he got married to his childhood sweeetheart Dorothea Hurley on April 29th 1989 at Gracleland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
