The book of Eli is about a man who lives and struggles to survive in a violent post-apocalyptic society caused by a nuclear disaster. The scene of the city creates drama to the watchers as we see the full picture of the fallen city.
Eli, has been wandering westward across North America, carrying a book that he guards closely while confronting many conflicts by the highway bandits.
He survives by hunting small animals and seeking goods in destroyed houses and vehicles to trade in villages for water and supplies. Since the water was a valuable source on earth in the movie.
When he reaches a village ruled by the powerful mobster, Carnegie, the man views Eli's impressive fighting skills and offers Eli a place within his gang. Carnegie presses his blind lover Claudia to send her daughter, Solara, to at least convince Eli to spend the night by sleeping with him. However, Eli proves to be the better man when he gently declines her advances. The girl sees Eli's book, and when Carnegie finds out he beats her mother until she reveals what she saw.
Eli now faces a major conflict in protecting the girl and the book at the same time against outnumbered gang. The fighting scenes are often covered in shadows to attract the watcher’s curiosity about Eli who is so mysterious throughout the movie.
By the end, Eli defeats the gang and finally reaches the North America to donate the book to the facilities where all the famous books and play scripts such as shakespear’s plays are kept and protected. The book that he has been protecting all the time appears to be the last remaining Bible on Earth. We also learn that Eli is a blind man and the bible was for the blind only.
