Assignment 1 – Bucket List / Part 1

After reading over the book, “1000 Places To See Before You Die” by Patricia Schultz, it has broadened my perspective when it comes to places I would like to visit before I die or another thing to mark off my “Bucket List”. One of the destinations I would like to visit is the Gulf of Porto, Corsica, France as found on page 123 in Shultz’s book, “1000 Places to See Before You Die”. This mountainous Mediterranean island intrigues me with its mountainous and cliff like coastline. Corsica has some of the most intimate, beautiful beaches with its picturesque coastal towns and inhibited interior with mountainous villages linked by cobblestone roads. An interesting historical fact about Corsica is that it is the birth place of Napoleon Bonaparte. Per Wikipedia, Corsica is also known to be a “hiker’s paradise” which I enjoy doing on my vacations. With Corsica’s rich Mediterranean climate, it makes it the ideal place to be able to travel to virtually all year around. Also, while doing further reading on Corsica, on tripadvisor.com I read that Corsica is also known for its ancient ruins like the Roman fort at Aleria as well as the ancient walled city of Bonifacio that can be seen from underneath the cliffs from a boat. While Corsica isn’t known for being a noisy, boisterous travel destination, it serves as a more peaceful yet tranquil travel destination with a blend of beautiful beaches, challenging walks and hiking, snorkeling and diving, and great local culture with food and drink.
Another interesting destination I chose to add to my bucket list after reading Schultz’s’ “1000 Places To See Before You Die” are the Yasawas Islands of Fiji found on page 684 of her book.
