1. Introduction:
This assignment will give insight into the various techniques, advantages and importance of
good communication in a business. The example of giving a presentation to fellow
colleagues on workshop I attended will be used for the purpose of this exercise.
2.1 Techniques to keep the attention of an audience during a presentation:
A person needs some skills and techniques to keep the attention of your audience during
the course of the presentation. If we consider a few business cases described by Angelika
Blendstrup from Professional business communications, it becomes clear that special
attention needs to be given to improve presentation skills.
For instance, the following elements need to be practised to achieve the desired outcome of
a presentation:










Accents - play a big role in a presentation when it comes to being clear on what
message you would like to communicate. An unclear accent may cause the
presentation to be misunderstood.
Grammar & Vocabulary – ensure that the correct language is spoken in context with
the content of the presentation. Intonation and pronunciation has to be well practised.
Gestures – a person can very easily be mistaken for being over exited and this can
distract the audience. Keep you movements to a minimum.
Images – People respond to pictures and images better than to text in extensive bullet
form. Images are also better memorised and people can associate images with a
message...
