UNIT 1 :
1: KNOW THE STATUTORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND RIGHTS OF EMPLOYEES AND EMPLOYERS WITHIN OWN AREA OF WORK .
1.1 Race ,religion , health and safety ,sickness and sick pay , anti-discrimination , data protection ... etc.
1.2 Employment contracts, minimum wage, health and safety, anti-discrimination rules, equal rights or pay, dismissal and redundancy, unfair working conditions, sick pay, holiday entitlements, training, disciplinary procedures, union rights ... etc.
1.3 Employment legislation exists to protect not only the employee but also the employer. It allows both parties to regulate their working conditions and sustain a balanced working relationship. It allows the employee to work in a setting that has a pay structure, health and safety regulations , as well as working in a setting that, provided by the employer, allows the employee to work safely without fear of injury or of hazard to their health. Employment law also allows people of all backgrounds the right to work, protecting discrimination, gender, race, as well as disability. Employment law provides a framework for all companies/businesses, regardless of the industry they are in.
1.4 From an employer it would be expected to receive a contract, terms and conditions of the role and establishment, any relevant policy documents, a staff handbook and a detailed job description. For information on rights whilst in employment, the health and safety executive will have detailed information on the health and safety at work act 1974, direct.gov has detailed information on all aspect of employment ranging from minimum wage, holiday entitlement, sick leave etc . And the citizens advice bureau will also have information on rights whilst in employment and what laws protect an employee.
2: UNDERSTAND AGREED WAYS OF WORKING THAT PROTECT OWN RELATIONSHIP WITH EMPLOYER .
