Case Study
Outline the knowledge, understanding and skills required to enable a whole systems approach to equality, diversity and inclusion.   Please ensure you include all of the assessment criteria, some of which will have already have been covered by the worksheets.
Your case study needs to reflect your actual work settings and you will need to upload examples of the systems and process within your workplace to promote equality and diversity.
Examples must include some of the following:
  * Policies (only key points, not the whole policy)
  * Documentation used to record reported incidents of discrimination
  * Literature / brochures etc depicting inclusion

Standard 4 of the Common Induction Standards recognises the value and importance of equality and inclusion including legislation about equality and diversity and how to provide support that includes everyone and respects their beliefs, culture, values and preferences.
The registered manager needs to understand how to lead and support others in equality and diversity issues. I support the manager to develop and maintain an environment where others around me understand and appreciate the importance of equality and diversity issues and feel able to challenge discriminatory practices.
Key legislation in this area is the Equality Act 2010 with its ‘protected characteristics’ and, if appropriate, the related Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). See www.equalityhumanrights.com (‘Advice & Guidance’ tab).
Within Apple Tree House we have policies relating to equality, diversity and inclusion.   We have addressed equality, diversity and inclusion within each service users care plan to ensure person centred care in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion.
