Introduction: Information Systems (IS) are a combination of hardware, software, and infrastructure that is used by personnel for the purpose of planning, controlling, coordinating, and making decisions. “It has been said that the purpose of information systems is to get the right information to the right people at the right time in the right amount and in the right format.” (Rainer & Turban, 2008, p. 6). In order to do this successfully, our company needs to know what type of information that we need and what we need to do to obtain successful operations in our business. IS and software applications in computers enable personnel to meet the company’s mission and objectives. Administrative processes such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database software management systems are used to deliver the right information in the right format. This memorandum will provide examples on types of software applications that our company’s Human Resources (HR), Accounting, and Marketing Departments use to perform their duties in reference to information systems.
