2. Trends effecting stock
  1. Increasing environmental concern
Coca-Cola Enterprise(CCE) produced 796,000 tones of carbon that release from its business in 2007. Statistical shows that 65% was from cold drinks equipment, 22% from manufacturing sites and 13% from transportation of products. Therefore to breakdown the carbon footprint by their product in 2008, CCE worked with the Carbon Trust to calculate the carbon footprint, including their a 330ml can. As a result it shows that their packaging is the largest element of the carbon footprint of some of CCE products, including their 330ml can of Coca-Cola. (See diagram below for more details)

The CCE decide to take an action to do lightweighting by reducing the weight of its packaging and also to reduce the carbon that release on the entire container.

  Examples of lightweighting of products

By lightweighting, the overall carbon footprint of their product reduces by 60% by using recycled content and encouraging recycling on CCE products.
