F. Assess the advantages and disadvantages of different types of communication used with clients.
Verbal communication is the use of sounds and words to express yourself. The process of sending and receiving messages with words. Non-verbal communication is a powerful tool that can help you connect with others, express what you really mean and build better relationships. Hand gestures are a great way of reinforcing what you’re saying, but they may mean different things in different cultures. Body language the conscious and unconscious movements and posture by which attitudes and feelings are communicated.
G. Describe how to adapt methods of communication to suit the client and their needs.
Always explain the treatment with the clients at the beginning to get clients full agreement and so they know what is having done.
H. Explain what is meant by the term ‘professionalism’ within beauty related industries.
Professionalism is always looking professional, wearing uniform, neat hair, short nails, no jewellery. Always turn up on time. Respect the client and their needs. Everything is kept confidential.
I. Explain the importance of respecting a client’s ‘personal space’.
The importance of respecting a client personal space is to protect their modesty. Give them their own space and time, don’t rush them.
J. Describe how to use suitable consultation techniques to identify treatment objectives.
K. Explain the importance of providing clear recommendations to the client.
Explain to the client what should happen after a treatment, e.g. Erythema after a massage is just the blood coming to the base of the skin. Always make sure the client understands what is happening or could happen and what she can do if anything does happen.
