Introduction

Yawning is an involuntary reflex action, characterised by the gaping of the mouth and a long deep intake of breath followed by an exhalation of breath(Gallup & Gallup, 2007). This behaviour is universal across humans and animals (Anderson et al, 2004; Provine, 2005). A fascinating aspect of this behaviour is its contagiousness. (Anderson et al, 2004). Watching, hearing, reading or thinking about it can trigger a yawning behaviour (Provine, 1986, 2005). This yawn contagion occurs in about 40-60% of people (Platek et al, 2003).
