My essay is on Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. I am doing it on him because I think he is the best football player in the world. He is famous for a number of things, one thing is he is currently holding the world transfer record of 80 millions pounds (94 million euros) and he is the only player to have played for the under 16s , under 17s , under 18s , B team and First Team in the same season at sporting Lisbon.
Cristiano was born on the 5th February 1985 in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. Cristiano was given his second name “Ronaldo” because of at that time the U.S. president Ronald Reagan who was his father’s favourite actor. Cristiano has one older brother Hugo, and two older sisters, Elma and Liliana Cátia.
When Ronaldo was only eight years old he began to play for an amateur team Andorinha, where his father was the kit man. In 1995 ronaldo signed with a local club CD Nacional. Which would start his career and now 14 years later he is playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world in Real Madrid. When Cristiano was 15 years old he was diagnosed with a racing heart, a condition that might have forced him to stop playing football. The Sporting’s staff were made aware of the condition and Ronaldo’s mother gave her authorisation for him to go into hospital. When he was in the hospital they carried out an operation which a laser was used it cauterize the area of his heart that was causing him the problems. The surgery was successful and Ronaldo was discharged from hospital on the same day as the operation. In the 2007/2008 season was his most successful season in which he won many awards the best ones must have been the Barclays Golden Boot which we won for being the top goal scorer in the premiership he also won the European Golden Shoe because he was the top goal scorer in Europe that season with a total of 42 goals.
