….YES! It suddenly hit me, it’s not how other people see you, what matters most is how you see yourself. Out of the blue my confidence had just sky rocketed, thinking nothing can stop me from what I want to do in life. Billy, BILLY! BILLY! Back to reality, that’s my annoying mother SIGH*. It was only myself and mother living under the same roof. My father was brutally mauled to death by a lion. Sadly, I knew at that point that if I was to take care of my mother, I needed to toughen up and not let people boss me around in life. “Billy dear is something bothering you?” “I just want you mum to have a perfect life even though dad is gone I am going to look after you forever”. “Billy if there is one thing I have learnt in life, it is this; always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else”. I felt a sense of a brighter beginning, a raise of light, the sparkle of hope as if jolted by the realisation that it was my time to put the puzzle together, to run the mile and succeed beyond all measures. People were walking past me often laughing or degrading me, but that didn’t bother me at all. The streets of New York can be so disrespectful, sometimes I wonder how cruel a fellow human being can be to another. As I walked into school, I knew straight away it was going to be a good day, because of my new attitude to life. BILLY!
