Our school’s health and safety policy states that: Our policy is to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for all our employees, and to provide such information, training and supervision as they need for this purpose. We also accept our responsibility for the health and safety of other people who may be affected by our activities.
When supporting children and young people, both inside and outside of school, it is of paramount importance to take into consideration their health and safety. The aim of the school is to make learners, parents and carers, visitors and staff aware of health and safety issues and to minimize hazards and risks that may occur which will enable the learners to thrive in a healthy and safe environment. Visitors are asked to read a brief summary and sign to confirm they have read it upon entering the school. A full copy of any policy can be requested at the office. Overall and final responsibility for health and safety in the school is that of the Governors. The principal, is the specific person that is in charge of the health and safety in the school however, all staff should take responsibility for health and safety and should do whatever they can to reduce risks. The school undertakes regular risk assessments.
Risk assessment:-
A risk assessment consists of checking for hazards indoors and outside, as well as in our activities and procedures, for both adults and learners. Deciding which areas need attention and developing an action plan that specifies the action required, the timescale, the person responsible for action and any funding required. A list of health and safety issues are taken and checked before activities, daily and weekly.
