The four pieces of legislation which are important are:
* The Children Act 1989 which details that the needs of the child are paramount.
* The Children Act 2004 which concentrates on five outcomes for all children which are as follows: To be healthy, to stay safe, to enjoy and to achieve, to make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being.
* The Childcare Act 2006 which focuses on The Early Years Foundation Stage, Ofsted Registers, Children’s centres and extended schools, duty on local authorities to ensure sufficient Childcare and information and free early years 3&4 year old funding.
* Equality Act 2010 which relates to equal opportunities, ensuring different groups are treated fairly i.e in this case people of different races.
