DANGEROUS PEOPLE
The goals addressed by the authors in this journal where the characteristics of offenders, child victims, and location offences. The author also looked at the nature of victimization and the fears in different age groups of children. CYPSS (Children and Young Person’s Safety Survey), report data about child on child or young person offenses, this type of data lets us know that the perpetrator was an adult. Theft and assault tend to be committed by boys, whereas harassment and sexual assault are mainly done by girls. From the journal, it states that 9 year old to 10 year old boys are vulnerable and 15 year old to 16 year old teenager’s boys come second. This group is considered more adult like and closely resembles their perpetrator and more likely will be victims to their peer group.
When measuring fear in a child, a child has to have more fear if they have had certain experiences that presented fear. Some children are just outgoing than others and fear is highly gendered (Deakin, 2006). Girls sometime fear being harassed and being a sexual victim. The limitation in the study showed that many diverse forms of victimization and variables.
In conclusion, research has focused on the victimization of young people outside the home and has paid insufficient attention to less criminal forms of victimization such as harassment and their relationship to fear expressed by children.
