SWA Outreach Worker Job description
Context of Role
Responsible to: Community Manager
Role Purpose: To provide emotional and practical support to women who are experiencing domestic abuse and violence within the local community.
Key Work Areas and tasks
* Network with multi agencies in public and voluntary sector to identify a co-ordinated action plan in order to identify, accept referrals and support women needing SWA provision.
* Engage with women using a range of models, including drop-in, forums, telephone calls, home and community visits and other methods.
* Offer tailored emotional and practical support to service users to meet their unique needs; aiming to empower them to begin to make informed choices and decisions throughout the cycle of support.
* As part of a team, facilitate monthly drop-in sessions for women affected by domestic violence
* Make external referrals and signpost to other agencies who are more suited to provide expertise on behalf of service user
* Identify any safeguarding issues and refer to MARAC, Safeguarding Adults and Child Protection as per SWA procedure.
* Maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of work, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation, using SWA confidentiality procedures at all times.
* Assist with social policy work by identifying any trends and reporting them to Chief Executive
* Attend and contribute to regular team meetings.
* Observe client confidentiality at all times.
* Promote the aims, principles, policies, interests and well-being of the organisation and protect its integrity and reputation.
* Abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety and that of service users &colleagues.
* Attend training as appropriate
* Carry out any other related activities which are identified by the organisation in order to meet its aims and objectives
