Baggini both highlights the concept of discovery how it is experienced by the individual. Discovery is
defined as finding something for the first time or rediscovering something that has been lost or forgotten.
Both Ernesto and Baggini express the concept of selfdiscovery and what it means to the individual as a
key aspect of Discovery. Ernesto highlights the especially through his development from a bourgeois
medical student to a Revolutionary Marxist humanist within his trek through Latin America, challenging
his spiritual connection with the continent. Baggini however emphasises his point during a TED talk titled
"Is There A Real You"
that you must create your "true self", it is not something you go looking for, as
well as highlighting that people have limits to what they can achieve. These two arguments both
emphasise the meaning of Discovering aspects of your own life that you had never known were there.
