Understand the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion.
The importance of diversity in care is to ensure acceptance and respect. It is also to make sure that this is maintained as each individual is unique. It is essential that all differences such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs are accepted and that any knowledge of a person’s individual beliefs/status' are not affecting the work carried out in the work place this also includes treating everyone with the same amount respect as any discrimination made may have severe consequences and could result in them feeling upset and uncomfortable within the work place.
Inclusion is another important factor within healthcare. Everyone must be included and feel included, and they should never be left feeling alienated or excluded from anything. If this was to happen in the work place it would affect the quality of life of any individual, as a carer we must ensure the maximum quality of life is ensured for anyone under our care.
