1.3 Explain the purpose and benefits of agreeing realistic targets for work:
The targets should be realistic to ensure the employee can reach them. If targets are unrealistic the employee would be under pressure, would feel a failure and would result in a dissatisfied employer.
1.4 Explain how to agree realistic targets:
For agreement on realistic targets the employee and manager need to sit down and discuss the current workload and prioritise certain projects to ensure targets are met.
1.6 Explain the purpose of keeping other people informed about progress:
It is important to keep people informed about progress so that they can plan and prioritise workloads. (If someone is relying on a piece of work from the employee to complete their own tasks then it is extremely important to keep them informed of progress to enable them to re-prioritised their own workloads).
1.7 Explain the purpose and benefits of letting other people know work plans need to be changed:
The purpose of letting other people know your progress and that the goal needs to be changed is common courtesy and also it is possible that the success of the project/task could be reliant on your colleague completing the next stage of the project. It is good business ethics and is good practice to keep people up to date at all times when things change or need to be modified. Failing to do so can result in your colleagues work plans becoming unrealistic.
1.8 Describe types of problems that may occur during work:
Interruptions on a regular basis from colleagues who want to discuss something that is not work related; trying to deal with several tasks all at the same time; not being organised or not assessing the workloads realistically would result in projects/tasks not being completed as requested by the employer.
