Religion may be a difficult and vague subject matter to fully comprehend; however, organized religion helps bring clarity to someone seeking inner peace. Organized religion is made up many types of religions, hence many different beliefs. Unfortunately, different views of religions can cause the effect of disrupting world order by the passion a group possesses - trying to sway others that there is only one way to believe, and all other views should be admonished. Rather than give one’s faith wholly to their particular religion while allowing others with different view to give wholly to theirs, some followers feel the need to do away with “false” religions and replace them with “true” religion by means of war and violence.
War and violence are effects that organized religion has had on society. The conflict in the Middle East between neighboring Israel and Arab countries is an ongoing war of Jewish and Muslim religious beliefs. According to Hanukoglu (2010), “Many Islamist groups already declare that their aim is to re-establish one Muslim Nation (Islamic ummah) encompassing all Muslim nations, ruled by Islamic law replacing secular governments” (Arab-Islamic Empire, para. 5). Because Israel is the only surrounding country that is allies with the United States, Islamic nations use religion as the weapon to make an effort through war to regain control. “Some of the most worrisome conflicts are pitting Christians and Jews against Muslims to such an extent that some have predicted a catastrophic “clash of civilizations” states Fisher (Living Religion, 2005, p. 28). Religious conflict and violence is seen as a line of attack of solving problems and capturing entire religious control.
