Nyree gillespie   mrs. M  senior english period 8    Epic hero vs. Modern hero essay               Today, heroes are far from what the epic heroes once were. Today, no one needs to be the son  of Zeus to be a hero; no one need something great or earn numerous honors in wars to prove  themselves. The epic hero Perseus and and a modern day Police officer has many similarities and  differences. Perseus was one of the most challenged legends by far than any other hero, but also a very  capable warrior. Odysseus was the wily hero of the Greeks whom they considered second only to  Achilles. Odysseus was the one who came up with the idea of the Trojan Horse. He was also one of the  few Greeks to reach his homeland of Ithaca, after 10 years of war and 10 years of troubles at sea. He  was a descendant of Hermes, god of thieves. Today a police officer can be both a hero or an antagonist  because of human nature that mortals face. as an officer of the law you have power and responsibility  you choose to keep. a police officer can be from anywhere in the world but if they do not follow the  code they can stray off the path of a modern hero.    similarities between a epic hero and modern hero are Their personalities, characteristics, and physical  abilities vary. These similarities and make heroes unique and memorable for years to come. Epic heroes  have a lot of personality. Most people would call them braggarts because they always boast about their  adventures, treasures, or battles. Now, heroes are more like ordinary people. A policeman is a modern  day hero and could reside in the home next to you. Modern heroes are not out looking to accomplish  great deeds. Their actions are often spontaneously performed as where epic heroes look for people or  villages in distress. Epic heroes also work for a reward, while most modern day heroes do not.    One of the biggest differences between epic and modern heroes consists of their physical abilities. Epic ...
