Explain ways to embed elements of Functional Skills in your specialist area?

Functional skills are practical skills in English, information and communication technology (ICT) and mathematics. They allow individuals to work confidently, effectively and independently in life in the following ways –
    ❖ To apply their knowledge and understanding in everyday life.
    ❖ To engage competently and confidently with others.
    ❖ To solve problems in both familiar and unfamiliar situations.
    ❖ To develop personally and professionally as positive citizens who can actively contribute in society.
In this assignment I intend to describe how I could introduce them into my Nutritional Healing workshops.
English
Students would develop new relationships with others in the group this would be through general interaction, team exercises, group work and discussions. They would give feedback after group exercises and be encouraged to ask questions during the teaching sessions. Students would be encouraged to take notes through the sessions, read handouts and complete the workbook given to them. Students would be given assignments to do and would take an exam at the end of the course.
Maths
The main use of maths in the nutrition workshops would be in anatomy and physiology sessions where there would be facts about bodily functions, structures of organs, how processes work (e.g. Digestion, the immune system), temperatures etc. In sessions when looking at vitamin and mineral supplementation in the diet we would look at recommended daily allowances and toxic levels. With assignments students would be expected to deliver the correct word -count.
ICT
Students would research nutritional topics on the internet to help them increase their knowledge and complete homework assignments. Students would access the Nutritional Healing Foundations website to access Webcast lectures and the forums. Communications skills would be encouraged through discussion groups, listening to...
