I know how important quality of care is when looking for nursing homes for granddad. I have researched 13 nursing homes in the Mobile, AL area all which are no more than 10.0 miles from the heart of Mobile. After reviewing I have found 2 that I feel you need to look at (SPRINGHILL MANOR NURSING HOME; Twin Oaks Nursing Home, LLC) that I feel would be great for him due to his Alzheimer’s and 2 that you will need stay away from ( Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation-Mobile; Cogburn Health And Rehabilitation, INC).
When looking at Twin Oaks Nursing Home, LLC I paid closely attention to the staffing the quality measures these are which I felt would be important for him and make us feel at ease. The number of residents currently at Twin Oak is 118, the Alabama average for residents is 99.7 and the national average is 88.4. The total number of Licensed Nurse Staff Hours per Resident per day at Twin Oak is 1 hour 55 minutes, Alabama average is 1 hour 43 minutes and National average is 1 hour 36 minutes. Looking over and reviewing the resident ratio to the Licensed Nurse Staff per Resident is a great number. With reviewing Alabama and the National Average I think that Twin Oaks is well above with meeting his need. With looking at the Quality Measures there were several things I looked for. 1. Residents who experienced one or more falls with major injury at Twin Oaks was 2.8%, the Alabama average is 3.1% and National Average is 3.4% and the Lower the percentages the better. This tells me that staff are being alert and watching residents so that they are not falling and getting any injuries.   2. Residents who were physically restrained Twin Oak Average 0.9%, Alabama Average 1.8%, and National Average 2.4%. This informs us that staff doesn’t have to check on these patients every 30 min or making sure they walk the patient etc. They do have time to attend to granddad. 3.
