Diversity means recognises that through people have things in common with each other. They are also different and unique in many ways, it is also about recognising and valuing those differences, so diversity there fore consists of verbal and non –verbal factors some include:
• Backgrounds
• Culture
• Personality
• Work style
We can create a productive environment in which everybody feels valued.
Equality: principles involves redistribution of power to that people are not only treated fairly, but are enabled to exercise power over their own lives to maximum extent. They are also fully included in decision that relates to them & included in the mainstream life of society where they live.
Inclusion: is about equal opportunities for everyone what ever their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment & background, it pays particular attention to the provision made for and the achievement of different groups of people with in a community.
This can differ between people the effects can be physical, emotional or a combination of both. For children with disabilities this is where they are not given a chance to join in with activities due to others may think their disability could prevent them from being able to do so, some of the possible effects are:
• Low self esteem
• Depression
• Fear of rejection
• Humiliation
• Fear, anger
• Weight loss or gain
• Behaviour problems
• Lack of achievement
Some of these effects listed above not only affect the individual person, they could also effect the individuals families & friends too. Some families could be come isolated from society when they are protecting their child etc.
This could be from including / helping a person or learner speak out on how they want their place decorated, or to who they would like or not like on the learner council so that they can get their views across i.e. if they are not happy the way something ha not been done right in their home or room, or to get something fixed all this can bring...
