The information that the individuals can access , is held by the organisations that care for them.
Under The Data Protection Act of 1998 an individual must consent to all information collected about them .
At my workplace we must inform individuals about what information we are collected on them and why we are doing so.
Also we must make sure that we support the individuals and parents/carers as to what will happen with their personal information.
All the information that is collected has to only be used only for the reasons given and are on a need-to-know basis.
Also the information collected and recorded has to be accurate and up to date. This makes sure that individuals needs are full met.
