1. Using the critical thinking skills you have gained so far and referring to the materials provided for this assignment, identify two possible strategies that Thomas Hutchinson or Samuel Adams likely used to develop and improve their thinking as those historical events unfolded prior to taking a stand and acting according to their beliefs.
The first one I feel that they would have used is “Evaluate what you read”. You need to take all the information in and only at that point can you make a decision or even develop a feeling on that information. You must read and read it carefully to grasp the author’s main point and the evidence for each item covered.
The second one would be “Fact and interpretation” Are you basing you decision or thoughts on thoughts or is it on facts. With information gathered on that historic event before anything was decided I am positive that research was done and bounced off many minds before any action was carried out.
2. Explain the importance of building a foundation for critical and creative thinking when evaluating historical events such as the Boston Tea Party.
Historical events are just that historical there are numerous sources for information on these subjects. We must research the information that we are reading to ensure that the information is based on fact and not personal interpretation. With our research we must use all the skills that we have for critical thinking I would use “Fact and Interpretation” along with “Taste and Judgment” this would get me started but you must use them all.
