Pamela Ann Smart is an American woman serving a life sentence, without the possibility for parole, at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women for being an accomplice to first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and witness tampering. Smart took the media by storm after seducing her 15-year-old lover, William Flynn, and his three friends into murdering her husband, Greggory Smart. The case influenced several television shows and became the inspiration behind the motion picture To Die For.
Biography
Pamela was born August 16, 1967 to her parents Linda and John Wojas. Smart’s father was a successful commercial airline pilot and her mother a part-time legal secretary. Smart and her family relocated to Windham, New Hampshire when she was in elementary school. She attended high school at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, where she became a cheerleader. After successfully completing high school, she graduated Florida State University (1988) in under three years with Honors in Communications and a high GPA of 3.85. Her passion for “making it big in television news” and her love of heavy metal inspired her to combined her two interests into a college radio career (Hunt, 2012). Pamela and Greggory Smart met during a college New Year’s Eve Party. Within two years, the heavily in loved couple were married. Greggory obtain a career as a broker and Pamela a Media Coordinator for a school district in New Hampshire. The two seemed happily married until Greggory’s early affair with another woman. Sources say the affair left Pamela completely heartbroken and insecure (“Life”, 2015). She later became involved in a 10-month affair with 15-year-old high school student Flynn. Pamela attested she attempted to end the affair but was unsuccessful due to threats made by Flynn.
