BACKGROUND
As the freedom of Pakistan, essential telecom services are being provided through a monopolist, earlier called as Telephone and Telegraph division (T&T). The division was being run via the government and take part in multiple functions as monitor, policy maker, operative and service provider in the state. The T & T section was afterward transformed into a firm. While the firm was earning massive earnings from the services, it is re-investing the equal income into the region for the provision of additional telecom service except the investment is not sufficient.
Further, with the technological innovation, more and more telecom services be becoming available but there was not sufficient wealth accessible with the firm to install fresh telecom systems for the provision of up to date services. Resultantly, a digital split prevails in Pakistan keep it behind its neighbors and additional similar countries in provisions of telecom access. Cellular mobile services in Pakistan initiate in 90s as two cellular mobile telephone licenses be reward to Paktel and PakCom (Insta phone) for stipulation of cellular mobile telephony inside Pakistan. Now there are six cellular players in the marketplace. The Telecom Sector has contributed 2 percent towards the on the whole GDP growth with revenues of over PKR 235bn.
