The purpose of design tools (Data modelling tools) is to create a model that is used to assist and document the design of the new system.
These are all VERY difficult and need to be cemented in before my exam!
I will need to learn some other basic terms as well.

Information Systems – Information Systems are created to provide information to a person or organization, they consist of characteristics such as organization of data and analyzing the information.
Functions of information systems
Processing Transactions – A transaction processing system (TPS) collects, stores, modified and retrieves the daily transactions of an organization. Examples of these systems are credit card payments, EFTPOS and ATMs.
There are TWO types of transaction processing
-Batch processing
-Real time processing
Batch processing – Collects the transaction data and processes it later.
Real time processing – Each transaction is processed immediately
