Kindness
Kindness is a noble quality that is found in human beings which we can proudly make use of to make the lives of people around us better. But in its broader sense, it means one's selflessness to a person or cause. It involves sacrifice and compassion of the heart. A kind person bears a moral character, honest outlook, and good manners which everyone naturally as human beings should exhibit around one another.
As I spent my time searching for the meaning of the word “kindness” I started to go deeper into the true representation and evolution of it meaning. It was quite difficult to find the meaning in the Oxford English Dictionary as it display a multitude of different definitions. Some of the articles I found online was quite amusing as it represented my thoughts with the perfect story. I tried to find this articles mainly on the news to line up with current events so that I can compare the usage. The thesaurus also helped me to understand the different versions of the word to better understand its true meaning.
In this world, there are only a few instances of kind personalities but kindness is common among the people who have experience in dealing with other people’s struggles and also who sees someone going through the same struggles. I decided to revisit the one book that holds so many truths for me - the dictionary. Seems odd, doesn’t it? The dictionary?? You see, I learned that every word, like people, has a story. Every word started somewhere in time for reasons that are often buried in the dust of history unrecalled. The word 'kindness' in the Oxford English Dictionary means 'Exhibiting a friendly conduct to a person or animal’' which is generally applicable in the case of towards people who probably have less than you or can’t pay you back. This again brings up the quality of selflessness that people ignore in modern day society.
The words like “friendliness”, “thoughtfulness” and “graciousness” can also be substituted for kindness...
