Leadership and Systematic Change in Education
As an administrator there will be various times that tough challenges in leadership may arise that you will need the ability to recognize the need to introduce modification. Administrators need to be ability to measure their success through success rather than implementing a plan to bring about change. To measure success in a plan it may only be as effective as the ability of the administrator to implement the plan. Administrators need to have the skill set to determine what is relevant and what is not to measure successes. The school that I am currently at is not an overly large school but it is deep in culture. The school was built for about one thousand students and it currently only has around seven hundred students. We have seen our up and downs throughout the years and are currently in one of the years that we are in need to implement a plan for the upcoming school year. In the past we have had administrators that had a vision and they carried that out with how they lead the school. As I said this is a school with deep tradition from being the first school that was built in Peoria and was housed at the High School until the mid-eighties and then it was relocated to the current site. We currently have two administrators that should be caring out equal duties to ensure that our school is providing the tradition and education that our students deserve.
Administrator No. 1 is our current principal that came to us from a neighboring school. This individual came to our school with many years of experience in the district from starting off in the district as a teacher to the last few years being a building principal. This administrator had announced last year that she would be retiring in the 2013-2014 school year and requested that she be left at the current school that she was at.
