The leadership function within an organization is very complicated. It can have many variables and be achieved in many ways. The way that management leads the organization will set the tone for the organizational culture. It will determine rather or not its members will be efficient and effective in achieving the goals. Leaders are people who are able to effectively achieve the goals of an organization by motivating its members and they have the ability to insight their members with the vision of the organization. The characteristics and traits of a good leader are as follows:
1. A good leader has an exemplary character. It is most important that a leader is trustworthy to lead others. A leader needs to be trusted and be known to live their life with honesty and integrity. A good leader leads by example.
2. A good leader is enthusiastic about their work or cause and about their role as a leader. Leaders need to be able to be a source of inspiration, and be a motivator towards the goals that need to be accomplished. Although the responsibilities and roles of a leader may be different, the leader needs to be seen to be part of the team working towards the goal.
3. A good leader is confident. In order to lead and guide a leader needs to appear confident as a person and in the leadership role. Such a person inspires confidence in others and exhibits trust . A leader who conveys confidence inspires the best effort from team members.
