There are different personal issues that a child or a young person can develop such as health complications, sensory impairment, disability or learning difficulties.
Even before birth a child needs to reach many milestones. In some cases there can be a delay in development and this can be out of the child’s or parent’s control.
A child with learning problems may be years behind their peers in their development. This would have an impact on what they can do on a day to day basis including physical skills, social skills and intellectual skills. Other personal factors that can influence a child are their home life, such as death of a family member, parents divorcing or even a change in familiarity like moving home. Some parents can also have inadequate parent skills and become bad role models.
All these factors and many more can have a great impact on a child or young person’s life. Each responsible parent or carer needs to recognise any issues that child may have and seek help to assist them into having a normal, happy life.

External factors again can really affect a child’s learning, some of these could be: - Poverty and deprivation. Hopefully not one of our own major influences, whereas in other, not so well off countries, this is a major fact as these children cannot have any education as there is not any available. Family environment and background. In some homes education is not at the front of their things to do list. We can often see this where the parents/ careers are of a lower educational development. This could also show that there is no support at home as the parents do not understand the required educational elements needed to complete the work. Personal choices.
