A Liberal Arts Education at Belmont Abbey College
A liberal arts education refers to college studies that provide general knowledge and develop intellectual ability. It involves subjects that provide information of general cultural concerns such as, languages, literature, history, philosophy, mathematics, and science. Having this degree is appealing to employers as it creates graduates who are equipped with the skills to become valuable community members. Some may call it an education for life as it offers written and verbal communication skills training and the ability to solve complex problems and to work well with others.
Belmont Abbey College is a liberal arts institution with a purpose of discovery, transmission and integration of knowledge within the Catholic and Benedictine liberal arts tradition. As the mission statement says:
Our mission is to educate students in the liberal arts and sciences so that in all things God may be glorified. In this endeavor, we are guided by the Catholic intellectual tradition and the Benedictine spirit of prayer and learning.
