Mechanical Engineering
I want to be a mechanical engineer. I want to go into this field because ever since I was a young child, I have had the dream to be an inventor. I have always been intrigued by the great inventors of history and their incredible ideas. The machines that they created have both complex and mesmerizing inner workings or are built so simply it is a wonder that they had not been created earlier. I have had a desire to create something great and useful to better the world. I am inspired by the thoughts and ideas of Leonardo da Vinci. His ideas, even the ones that he was never able to create, were very advanced for his era and were also used as the basis for many of the modern machines today including airplanes and armored vehicles.
I believe that mechanical engineering will help equip me with the knowledge to be able to make my ideas come to life. I have had many ideas throughout my life that I have always wanted to create. Mechanical engineering would help me to create my ideas by giving me the understanding of the science behind machines and know the basic components of a working machine or system.
The strengths that I can bring to the Department of Mechanical Engineering include creating new ideas, being a diligent and hardworking student, and having a willingness to learn new processes and forms of thinking. Thus, I believe that the College of Mechanical Engineering would be a great fit for the career I want to pursue after my time in school.
