Memo to All Managers Dear Managers

In this time of change and growth in our company we find that many of us may not understand the importance behavior, team work, employee laws and diversity. As managers you have a great responsibility to behave in a manner that helps to improve productivity in employees. How you act can greatly affect to how your team functions on a day to day bases. Meeting with your team weakly and one on one can help you to understand their needs. It is important to let them know that you are on their level and are willing to jump into the trenches and back them up when they are under heavy fire. As we grow our business we find our teams being more diverse. This is a good thing for the company as a whole and for the individual teams that make this company great. Know how to deal with diversity is a great tool to you and your team. With this new change to our company many new cultures and types of workers come in to the teams. We must not only know how all this diversity plays a role in the future of the company but introduce it to all the employees and train them to understand one another. We must embrace and value diversity. Which means ”learning to value and respect styles and ways of behaving that differ from yours. To manage diversity, there is no room for inflexibility and intolerance—displaces them with adaptability and acceptance.” (Cascio, 2005) With many new cultures, races and teams working together to better the company, managers need to know the laws and how they affect the workplace. We will be sending out information from the EEOC that will help you to understand the many laws employees have in the work place and how you can stop problems before they occur.
