      2.1. List legislation relating to general health and safety in a social care setting.
There are many Legal Acts relating to general Health and Safety in social care settings. Some of them are:
  * Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  * The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992
  * Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (amended 2002)
  * Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH)
  * Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR)
  * Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
  * Food Safety Act 1990, Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995 and Food Safety (Temperature Control) Regulations 1995
  * Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations   1998 (LOLER)
  * Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 (PPE).

      2.2. Describe the main points of health and safety policies and procedures.
The main points of the health and safety policies and procedures are to make the workplace safe, to understand agreed ways of working and approved codes of practice in health and social care settings relating to health and safety, to deal with accidents, injuries and emergency situations such as operating, reporting and recording procedures within the standards of the company and the law.
To be able to perform basic first aid (if trained to do so), to make sure all machinery is stored and used correctly, to make sure all protective clothing is being used, to take reasonable care of my own health and safety and to co-operate with my employer within the law.
