Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa was born in Macedonia, on the 26th of August 1910. At the age of twelve, Mother Teresa had a vision. In her vision, God was telling her to help the poor and treat the sick. After she had this vision she moved to India where there were a lot of poor and sick people. In Calcutta, Mother Teresa set up the Missionaries that would help the sick, poor and the dying. Mother Teresa and other nuns wo uld wonder through the dark, looking for homeless, sick and poor people and they would pick them up and take them to their “Home for the dying”. Even those who had only a few hours to live would be taken there and blessed by Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for all her efforts to aid poverty in India. Mother Teresa died on the 5th of September 1997 but even after she died all her efforts payed off. Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity continued to expand and after she died it was operating in 123 countries with over 610 missions. These were all helping those people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy, and tuberculosis as well as opening soup kitchens, children’s and family counselling programs, orphanages and schools.
