My Life
I remember growing up in Haiti with my dad at the age of three because my mother had found an offer to come to the United States to make a better way for me. Since then my father married to my stepmother at the age of nine. After years passed by my childhood was very hard because I didn’t have enough opportunities around me to help me growing.
Years later things started to get hard with me because I’m so far away from my mother and my family. By going through the tough times I didn’t know what to do because at the moment I had no one to turn in to. At that age I had to really understand what was going on around me and put them into understanding so I could support myself. From going through the hard times I finally get in touch with my mother for some comfort. There my mother strive to get me here in United States, that’s when I felt a surge of energy to have patient and the courage to wait for things to start happening for me. That was my opportunity to fulfill all my dreams and goals. Thinking it was easy, there were many hurdles to cross. Months later my mother lost her job, so I had to put my dreams on hold. Now I started to worry about what’s going on and also what was I going to do. At the young age of sixteen I had to swiftly adapt with the situation not knowing which way to go. So I needed to make the necessary adjustments and found that there were no jobs in nothing I wanted to become. I got a day care job working with children which was something I never imagine doing. Today that’s my new career and I’m teaching still to this day. I go to school and that’s my major here at U.O.P. with a promising career ahead of me. Sometimes I reflect on how problems in my life are really the issues that I as a person need to make the correct adjustment to. Now I share this with everyone who think that there problems are only one sided and see that everyone...
